Advanced Queries
Advanced Queries in the Crash Data Viewer (CDV) provide a guided, three-step wizard, helping users to construct robust queries to access detailed information about crashes and the vehicles and Persons involved.
The functionality for building and executing advanced queries can be accessed by selecting the Query>Advanced menu from the left sidebar navigation menu (this will also be the default page when the application is first launched). The advanced query page consists of a panel on the left for building the query, and a map display/query results grid on the right, as shown in the example below.
Step 1 - Initialize
The first step allows the user to initialize the query by defining several key parameters on which the query will be based
Step 2 - Location
The second step when building a query is to define a locational (spatial) filter. The locational filter is defined by delineating one or more Areas of Interest (AOI). Only those crashes whose location falls within an AOI boundary are returned with the query.
Step 3 - Criteria
Step 3 is an optional step that allows the user to apply additional filters based on one or more criteria (characteristics) of the crash.
Opening a Saved Query
A Saved Query can be opened to populate the Advanced Query interface, after which it can either be run immediately, or modified prior to executing.
